the job of a financial advisor has involved buying and selling securities (such as stocks and bonds) on behalf of clients. The change in titles outlined above is supposed to reflect the fact that, rather than being focused primarily on facilitating transactions, financial advisors really should be more like investment advisers and financial planners who take a holistic view of their clients' financial needs and goals. Other variations in title, such as wealth management advisor, also are used, sometimes to denote a financial advisor who has additional training, certifications and/or experience.

Financial advisers can help you in solving money matters but that doesn't mean that all financial advisers can do that. There are also some people who had bad experience with individuals who call themselves as financial experts.
For you to avoid having bad experience with these people, then you should carefully look for financial experts that you can trust. Avoid those who are simply looking for business.
As much as possible, choose a financial advisor that has a physical office. This way, you'd be able to visit that person and see how he/she handles work. Check if the office is organized and if everything is in order despite being busy. The appearance of the office would reflect that person's personality.
A certification would also give you an assurance that the financial advisor is trustworthy. This is very important when looking for a professional who would help you handle your money. That person should have the right educational background and certification.

A financial advisor can certainly provide you with the tools to make better financial decisions. As long as you make sure he/she is actually qualified to give advice, it can be a service worth paying for.
