I recently purchased some I bonds with my tax refund. and I found out
that they are paying zero percent. What should I do with them and how
can I get my I bond money earning money.
Thank you,

Two things - (1) fill out a new W4 at work so that you won't get refunds in the future. (Isn't it amazing that the average tax refund is $3000? You have to wonder why folks think that it's a good idea to overpay all year and then apply to have their own money refunded to them in April?)
(2) always check out an investment BEFORE you buy it, lol.
I use the SP500 Index Fund at a no-load company - it grows tax deferred and has an average long-term return of about 11%/yr.

I have keep them for 1 year before I cash them. So what penalty will I have
when I do that? It said 90 day interest penalty.Would they take part of the principle
if I cash them after one year?.
Thank you,

sounds like these bonds you bought are people waiting for you to buy there bonds then use the money to generate money like the bank and then put you through hoops when you want your money back.. What do they gain and what do you gain.. apparently they have to be gaining something and you are.. well looks like gaining nothing but trouble..
what is the difference between me and you to Albert Enestine! nothing.. only yourself! look at you! rise above yourself!

If the interest is zero, then the 90-day penalty is zero. You have no chance to make money, I would sell them now and invest elsewhere.
