Credit unions vs banks |
|
|
We're planning to remodel our bathrooms in the near future. Problems is we're a little short on cash right now so we're thinking of getting a personal loan to finance it. I'm wondering, for this, would it be better to go to a credit union or bank?

One thing to remember - remodeling causes an instant 50% loss to Net Worth. Eg, if you spend 20k on bathrooms it adds only 10k to the value of the house. So it may not be a good way to direct money, borrowed or otherwise, if you want to build wealth.
That aside, CU will usually have a better deal - but not always.

Thanks for the tips!
Honestly though it's more of a necessity now rather than just a desire to make our bathrooms prettier. Do you mind if I ask you if you think the personal loan rates here are good?

Credit Unions seem to be a good alternative when you consider your misgivings on banks. At the same time, it's advisable that you gather adequate knowledge on Credit Unions before taking the leaping forward.
