401k Brokeragelink Advice |
|
|
Hi folks,
I have a 280k balance invested in a Fidelity BrokerageLink account. This is a large part of my 401k. It is currently being managed by a third party robo advisor firm. I don't really have any issues with the robo advisor firm but I wanted to use a small portion of these funds to do my own stock market investing.
According to Fidelity, I would need to unchain my BrokerageLink account from the robo advisor firm and then I'm pretty much on my own for those funds. Within my employer's 401k shell, Fidelity can only recommend a select list of index funds but I'm able to invest freely within the BrokerageLink account. It seems like an all or nothing deal if I want to do my own stock market investing even at a small scale.
So my question is...Assuming I get rid of my robo advisor and I have control over my funds, what stock market products/ETFS/etc. can I invest most of my BrokerageLink funds in? I also have the option of of moving a majority of these funds back into one of Fidelity's approved index funds for my 401k setup. I'm currently 43.
Thanks.
