A documentary film about US treasury bonds?  Reply with quote

Several foreign countries hold a substantial amount of US treasury bonds today, and many express concern while many say that foreign countries are simply making investments. I don't think that, however money is raised, the US government should be spending that money frivolously, but to be honest with you, I only have that basic idea. I can't really explain why offering a lot of US treasury bonds to foreign countries is a good thing or bad thing. I can't really explain how this puts dollars in risk if it actually does. I'm not 100% sure what would happen (in theory) if these foreign countries suddenly decide to cash in US treasury bonds.

Is there any comprehensive documentary film on this topic? I really want to understand this, and it would be great if I can learn this by watching a documentary film(s).

I have a couple of questions.

q1. I often hear that several foreign countries (namely Saudi Arabia, China and Japan) hold a fair share of US economy. Does it mean that they have dollars in cash or they have US treasury bonds?

q2. I often hear that, if they dump their holdings, then the value of dollar will fall dramatically. Does it means that they sell their bonds or they exchange their dollars in cash with other currency like Euro?
