lots of mystery shopping deals make you pay for it up front then they reimburse you.... they set the amount before you go... I have never done this but others have.

Not pay to join. But you pay for product up front then get reimburs.
So you get paid by getting to keep the product or getting free meal etc...

my mum was a mystery shopper at several area stores, she said it was worth her time since she was out and about anyway.

I actually did find ligit sites, I actually did mystery shopping a few years back for KFC, and Taco Bells it paid $30.00 per store visit at the time.
