What is the best place for me to go for a morgage? I went to my local bank but my guess is they are just going to sell it off. What are some of the other/online people I can talk to.

Bankrate.com is a popular commercial site that tries to categorize different mortgage providers in an unbiased way.

Look for a Mortgage Wholesaler. They will save you a ton of money on back end fees.
