The Importance of Search Engine Keywords Selection Revealed |
|
|
Hi,
You probably know that not all keywords are created equal . If you don’t,
I’ll briefly discuss it here for you.
You see - it is important for you to determine what you want to do with your
web site. I know you want to make money… focus… that wasn’t what I was
asking. First you have to know how you’ll make your money – e.g. selling
your own product, selling affiliate products, putting Adsense on your web
site…
After you’ve established that, you should know there is some homework
you have to do before certain keyword optimization. You see, there are
different aspects to keywords and simply it being the most searched on
doesn’t make it a good keyword. Think about this now: what if you wanted
to buy an ebook on cooking pasta. Would you type “cooking” or “cooking
pasta” in Google?
You betcha. Surely the keyword “cooking” will outperform “cooking pasta”,
but someone getting to your site through “cooking” isn’t as qualified as the
one coming through “cooking pasta”. Additionally, you will have to work so
much harder to get a top position for just “cooking”.
So the key here is to find most relevant keywords to the product or service
you sell and optimize pages for those words. After you’ve done that, you
might want to move to the other less relevant keywords, but only after
you’ve optimized for your most relevant keywords.
The tricky part comes when you try to find those keywords. As a man that
knows about your business, you probably think you know what keywords
people will use to find your product. Well, the truth is far from the ones you
pick. Sure, some of them will be correct, but mostly, without the proper
research you will be leaving money on the table.
In just my two recent posts on my blog I was blown away by the keywords
people used to find my posts. I didn’t even optimize for them – I
accidentally used them! And those visitors usually stayed the longest.
That’s when it really hit me. It can be so easy getting quality visitors to
your web site or blog, if only you think out of the box.
There’s absolutely no need to optimize for a keyword that has 1.000.000
searches a month if you can easily dominate 100 keywords that are
searched 500 times a month. And believe me, you will get much more
visitors and will transform them into customers the other way. That’s what I
do, although I admit I’m going for the 1.000.000 too. But first I did the
second option and will tell you right now: “It’s much, much easier and much
more profitable”.
If you want to learn a couple of tricks more, you can read my newest post
on keywords selection. You can also take that article and put it on your blog.
It's a quality article that will get you more returning visitors. Be sure to live a link to my blog.
The article is a part of my Search engines optimization cycle of posts that
I'll do for another week or so. You can visit my blog here: http://insidemarketing.blogspot.com

We use a fantastic tool called Word Tracker to pick keywords. It's not free but it's a really good tool to find keywords which people haven't optimised for but are searched for...and that is what it's all about!

Some great advice in there:
quote:
You betcha. Surely the keyword “cooking” will outperform “cooking pasta”,
but someone getting to your site through “cooking” isn’t as qualified as the
one coming through “cooking pasta”. Additionally, you will have to work so
much harder to get a top position for just “cooking”.
And it will be even easier to go for a word combination like "cooking pasta al dente"!
Getting good a good ranking is like climbing to the top of a hill. It might be better to climb to the top of a medium-sized hill, than to use the same effort, but only climb halfway up a bigger hill.
