On July 29th the FTC ruled that Debt Settlment companies can no longer charge up-front fees to cutomers. The company must first settle the debt before getting paid. This is a huge win for the consumers!

This is great news because now you can't be so harassed and the focus goes on collecting the money rather than making money solely.

I disagree. I think you will now get harrassed more often because the collectors wont make money until you settle the debts.

Well the good thing is that there are no up-front fees in the first place! They need to actually put in effort to get ANY money from you.

Another debt settlement option is to go absolutely stealth until the statue of limitations expires. Play dead: No known job, phone, bank, or assets.
