I've prepared my girlfriend's taxes the past few years using 1040ez forms. It turns out, she is still paying on her students loans. I didn't know it at the time.
Is there a way I can retroactively deduct the interest from her student loans from the last few years?

Yes. You file an ammended return for each of the years, for the interest paid in each year. Before you do all that work, make sure the deductions you plan to claim exceed the standard deduction.

Hello,
The deadline to pay your taxes without incurring penalties and interest is 4/15. However, if you can't afford to pay it (or don't want to) you can always request an extension to pay of up to four months or a monthly installment agreement if you need more time than that.

Actually, the deadline this year is today, April 18, 2011.
And the extension is six months.
Please check your facts before posting.

I'm not sure why you posted your comments. The OP (original post) involves no issue with filing deadlines. This issue here is a need to file amended tax returns for years already filed.
