Types of Health Insurance......  Reply with quote

Types of Health Insurance......
There are mainly three types of Health Insurance covers:

1.Group insurance : Group medical insurance offers insurance cover to a group with a common trait – it may be employees of a company, members of a club or an association or members of a co-operative society etc. Many employers now provide medical insurance as a perquisite to their employees.

2.Individual Mediclaim : This is the simplest form of health insurance policy & caters to the specific needs of an individual. It covers the hospitalization expenses for an individual for up to the sum assured limit. The insurance premium is dependent on the sum assured value.

3.Family Floater Policies : These policies are enhanced version of the mediclaim policy. A floater is a unique plan wherein the value of sum insured opted can be used by all the members of the family i.e each opted family member comes under the policy. The premium for family floater plans is typically less than that for separate insurance cover for each family member. Family floater makes sense for a family because each one in family gets a big cover.

Hi
i think traditional health insurance is generally the most flexible type of health plan. It allows you to choose any doctor you want to and see specialists without getting approval from a "primary care physician" or "gatekeeper" first. However, depending on the plan, certain restrictions may apply. For example, you may need to get the insurance company's approval before checking into a hospital, unless it is an emergency. With traditional health insurance, you will usually have to spend a certain amount on medical bills each year before your insurance starts to pay.

Thanks Smile

I have spoken to a lot of people who were not satisfied with their health insurance plans. Most of the time, they really had not taken the time to understand their purchases before they needed to seek medical care, and so, they were not happy with the coverage that was clearly spelled out in the policy. I, myself, have had a similar experience because I did not realize that the doctor's visit copay did not cover any blood tests that were performed. Sometimes a doctor's copay does cover these tests, and sometimes it does not.

It will take some time, but it is important for you to become educated about various health insurance plans before you sign up. After all, you know that premiums are a big part of your monthly budget, and you know that your health care is very important. I find people spending more time researching a computer or tv purchase than they spend on learning about health plan choices!

Health insurance is always beneficial for us. It covers high charges of medical expenses. But now a days, there are many insurance companies, they have their different plan and conditions. So when choosing health insurance policies, read all points carefully and then go ahead.

Most of the time, they really did not take the time to understand their purchase before they need medical treatment, so they are not happy coverage, defined in the policy. I had a similar experience, because I do not know the doctor's visit co-payment does not include any blood test.

Health insurance is definitely beneficial to everyone but in order to take advantage of the benefits you need to figure out the perfect insurance for you. Aside from that you need to understand first the extent of the coverage. Don't just make a purchase because it's a trend. Make wise choices in order to get the most out of your health insurance.

The are also PPOs (preferred provider organizations) and POS (point of sale). The HMO is the most restrictive as far as networks, then come the POS, PPO, and Indemnity is the most open as well as the most expensive.
