How to invest in mutual funds?

Investing in mutual funds is really a great thing because it gives good return and risk is less because of Diversification.but one must be aware of his objective of investment.

I think you should invest in Mutual Funds rather than Private Sector FD's. I think MAX New York MF and ICICI MF are doing good and are reliable... the returns are quite fair in these two companies....

In general i prefer Exchange Traded Funds to Mutual Funds.

Take a look also at http://SectorSPDR.com. It gives information on the 9 sectors within the S&P 500. There's a good case for just picking a couple of the better performing sectors and rebalance every quarter or two.

My one piece of advice is be wary of management fees.

When salespeople present funds they usually do it with bright assumptions of 8%+ gains.

That is unlikely in the current economic climate.

Fund management fees can erode your profits in a slow market.
