Having been on both sides of the situation as a business who applied for loans, as well as a company who offered creative financing, I have seen it all. Currently it is near impossible to get any kind of business financing, even if you personally sign as guarantor.
Sadly, the economy has killed small businesses and I don't see this changing with banks able to borrow from FED and then invest in Treadury Bonds and earn a safe couple to three percent, meaning their is little incentive to loan to businesses which are all a high risk loan at this point in time.
What I discovered was a creative new source of cash flow funding which does not require a credit check or good personal FICO scores since you do not have to personally guarantee note as would be typical. This is based on your businesses credit card processing, not on assets, so it makes it simple to access cash flow funding when you need it. In hard times like these, there is always an new creative method of funding available.

Aren't those receivables, which by definition are assets?

Everyone who replied to your post has all of your options pretty much covered. I wanted to add some statistics for you, along with some alternate forms of business lending that you might want to consider.
As of February 2013, just over half of all small business loans are being rejected by the big banks. This figure has been reported by most of the large financial websites.
There are a few easier options that don't require a bunch of collateral or a stellar credit score, plus the applications are relatively short. Research working capital business loans and merchant cash loans. Based on my experience, bot of these can be approved quickly and easily. Independent micro lenders specialize in working capital.
