Online vs Offline Business  Reply with quote

I hope I've posted this in the most adequate section...

I'm still in the research stage of finding that right business environment for my first step on the business ladder. I'm considering buying a business and starting one from scratch. Currently, I'm brain-storming and researching the markets for that ideal niche and in-demand service/product.

The hunt continues...

However, I thought I'd ask you guys what your opinion is on this topic.

What's best - an online or offline business?

There must be various pro's and con's to each. I've been researching businesses and premises/location can be costly for a start-up. I've become more and more intrigued by an online business - it appears to be much more low risk. But is it realistic to make a living from online?

I look forward to your thoughts.

In my opinion online businesses have a lot more competition. That means it will take a lot more work and time before you start to see income. However, you get to stay home and the possibilities are far greater. I also think online businesses offer less credibility to consumers in less it is a well known product.

However, an offline business already starts with a veil of credibility and your competition isn't always as great. Offline businesses will require much more capital too start and will have monthly expenses to keep open.

more and more business are changing the ways of how they do cost effective….. companies now become conscious that the best way to be cost effective is by reducing costs and maximizing profits… when running an offline business, you have to pay advertising companies to promote your business which is very costly… an online business has its presence not only local or national but, worldwide…

I'll market offline if I need an online break and vice versa.

Prior to going online my biz was mostly a car based biz.

Online takes longer to see profit but it can be a lot less work overall. A few years ago I had a candy machine business, it took a lot of work to get businesses to allow me to place the machines. Once I had 20 machines placed I was making pretty decent money, but I realized they were located so far apart it was hard to service them all when they needed attention.

Online work is nice because all I have to do is get on my computer and I'm already at work!
