Seo1.net is a good forum. You could also try writing articles and submitting them to article databases.

Sounds silly, but have you tried Adwords and Overture? Ya gotta pay, but at least most visitors are looking for what your offering.
Other tips:
Update your pages a lot. This causes Search engines to come crawl you site more often and recent stuff gets put higher usually.
Get other sites to link to you. This will make your pages look more important to search engines and then ranked higher.

I use alot of ways to get traffic to my site, and I have to say that TrafficSwarm is one of the worst. I only get 15 or 20 visitors to my site every day from TS. It is set as my homepage so I don't really have to do anything, but still. There are far better ways. Try some good traffic exhanges instead.

To me, the first type of traffic I would get would be my friends and relatives, which, if they enjoy my websites, might refer it to other friends and relatives as well, creating an exponentially growing amount of traffic.
Espicially if your friend has a son or daughter in a large school, if they show your site on the school computer, hundreds of other school kids might enjoy this website and check it out. They might then refer to the website on online forums, etc, which could attract thousands of people, internationally.
You might even create an affiliate program if you are selling a product or service, because you only have to pay the partner once you get paid yourself! The rest of the time, they are almost advertising your website, for free!

How about... building a website that is useful and informative?! Sorry, as a former web designer I just see way too many sites out there that forget content is king. Make sure your site always has something new to offer its readers too. The more times they visit, the more ads displayed, the more profit for you. Good luck.

no lie. I'm pretty tired of websites that basically look like a visual infomercial and simply brag about how wonderful their product/service is without actually telling you anything useful about the product/service.

I run an investment research and advisory services site http://www.adway.co.zw/ which focuses on the Zimbabwean stock and money markets. Can anyone advise me how I can get traffic for such a specific niche (i.e. the Zimbabwean market)?

jsnooky33 is right on the money. Traffic farms, paying for traffic on cheezy "we'll get you 50,000 hits a day" sites are a WASTE OF TIME & MONEY! Content is king. I stopped paying for traffic once I realized this, and began building an actual site with relevant content.
Posting on this forum with a link in your signature is a good start, but take it from a person who went from 10 uniques a day to over 500 by building content.

Don't pay for traffic |
|

I agree. You shouldn't pay those sites. Don't by all means by a "safelist". They're out. Very uneffective. Don't buy 1000 hits for $9. Hits mean nothing. You need readers, real people who read your content and then click on your ads. Really.
Create quality content and whatch the traffic come to you (in reality it's not THAT simple, but still). Quality, informative content is where it's at.
Make people come back and recommend your site to friends. Read the "some ideas to boost your profit" thread in this forum (the web for profit).
Have a great day.
