Got a letter from the IRS today wanting me to send more information to process my form for 2022.
They want ALL supporting documents verifying incoome and withholding.
I called and the person I spoke to said i needed to send a copy of all my 1099-div, 1099-int, 1099-r forms as well as copies of the front and back of my estimated tax payments. So this is a large number of pages of info.
She said this was standard behavior since I am requesting a refund for that year.
Does this seem logical/normal?
I usually end up owing money but last year I lost a ton on investments.
