E-file fail  Reply with quote

Ha. So, embarrassed to admit this... but I am very anxiously waiting for my E-file rejection. I gave them the wrong E-file pin number.

I assumed I didn't have one, but apparently my parent's tax guy filed my return electronically last year, so I DO have one. I filed this morning with a "new" number since I assumed I didn't have one. Now I get to wait for the IRA to realize my "electronic signature" with the E-file number doesn't match what they have on file... and reject me.

You know what assuming does? Makes an "ass" out of "u "and "me." But in this case, just me. Smile

Wow. Fail on my part. Now I'll have to wait longer for my return.

In my freak out mode yesterday afternoon I left a question on TurboTax's Community message board with something like,
"I filed my taxes with the wrong E-file identification number. Do I just wait for them to reject it and then refile with the correct number?"

Of which someone who posts there a lot said, "Yes."

So... I'm stilling waiting for my reject notice. Then hopefully it's just a simple resubmit again.

Just got an email saying my Minnesota personal income tax return as been accepted.

That's one down! Two to go (Iowa and Federal).

That's interesting that Minnesota accepted because they use the same E-file number as the Federal would use and I "assume" my Minnesota was e-filed last year with the correct number... but... whatever.

Maybe Minnesota doesn't care since I only made 2,500 in MN in the past year and after deductions have no taxable Minnesota income. Haha! $73 refund!!

Woke up this morning to find two new e-mails from TurboTax.

They were informing that my Federal and Iowa personal had been rejected. Federal rejected because they couldn't authenticate who I was, and Iowa rejected because Federal rejected me. But Minnesota tweaked by! Teehee!

So Turbotax helped me fix it and I "re-E-filed" this morning.

I hope this time it works!! Lesson learned.

According to a TurboTax e-mail update -
My Federal return was accepted last night!

Expected date of direct deposit is around Feb 25th.

I guess I better serious about my Roth IRA research so this money goes to good use!

Just waiting on Iowa now...

That certainly was a bad predicament for you. However, since you have already sent this one, then there is really nothing to worry about this one

Got my Federal return yesterday. Yippy!

Got my Iowa return a few days before that.

The whole process took less than a couple weeks so I guess the E-file mistake didnt' really set me back that much.

Well, that's really one lucky shot for you. I have some friends who have encountered the same mistake and they had to work on it from more than two weeks.
