if i made over $2,000 this summer and my parents still get to claim me appoximatly how much do u think i would get back in taxes....i've never filed them before so i don't know if i'll even make enough to make it worth while...

likjohn you should probably start a new thread. But in answer to your question, No one can tell how much your refund might be as we don't know how much you you had withheld. I would guess you would get back most if not all of the amount withheld.

Sorry, likjohn, I had a bit of a laugh at your expense. The whole purpose of filing a tax return is NOT to GET money, but to PAY money that you OWE to the government. If you don't owe any money, you don't need to file a tax return. However, if money was withheld from your summer wages by your employer, then that's money that you've already paid to the government before it was known whether or not you'd actually owe them any. So, if you don't owe them any money, but you paid them money, then you have to file a tax return to get your own money back.
Yes, I know that doesn't answer your question; I just wanted to reorient your question. It's not a question of "is it worthwhile" .... it's a question of "am I required to do it" Savvy?
