I think monetizing a site with things like Google AdSense or other opportunities/ads is the best way. But to make money, you're going to need to get traffic to that site.

Earning money through internet marketing is now easy.
Best ways are: Make a blog and start promoting affiliate products (choose amazon) and gather traffic and put Google Ads. You will get two way of income, i am doing the same and earning good amount from affiliate and adsese too. and my affiliate earning goes higher than google.

Keep reading in internet marketing forums, dont buy books from people about how to get rich these will never help you. Read up on how to use clickbank a lot of people make money pushing there products.

Good question,
But sadly, difficult to answer given there are so many variables involved when looking to earn money online. As most know, the affiliate route is the easiest and most often free method, but most also know affiliate marketing is not as easy or as profitable as it once was. We are all dealing with a fast moving target called the internet. What worked yesterday does not mean it will work tomorrow as most have learned, so do not be mislead is first step.
Simply put, if anyone says easy money, run, don't walk, there is no such thing as fast or easy money. I have researched them all over the years and there is no short cut to success when it comes to online marketing, it all comes down to traffic. Without traffic to your affiliate offer, it is like having a billboard in the middle of desert, no one sees it, thereby no sales, and no income. Paying for Google PPC ads can be very expensive for the newbie, so do not listen to all the guru's who push all the so called secrets to success, 99% are BS.
Affiliate marketing was a huge income generator when first introduced, and yes, PPC was one of the best methods to generate traffic years ago, but in my experience, it is no longer cost effective as the internet has evolved and matured. Simply put, ask yourself this? When you are searching the internet, do you click on the PPC ads? Most experience online users will only click on the top organic search results, not the fly by night PPC ads plastered all over Google.
Did you notice Google profits dropping along with their stock price this past week? The reason is obvious, most PPC users are not seeing any results to justify the high per click bid prices which can easily be several bucks a click these days due to competition for each keyword. When I started, my PPC bids were all under .20 on average to be at top of PPC ad page in Google results. It was a huge money maker in those early days, but now you have to pay up to $10.00 for same keywords, so forget about it, PPC is on steep decline as I see it as results have dropped off the clift.
In my experience, you want to focus on products or services which are recession proof, and since everyone is looking to save money, both businesses and consumers, I focus on only businesses which offer verifiable value and are already purchased by the masses. Businesses all want to reduce overhead, and advertising is a huge overhead for most, so I focus on offering free advertising opportunities which every business owner is interested in learning more about. When the same concept also saves consumers money, and is also free, now you have a recession proof business which will not only survive economic collapse, but actually thrive in a recession like this one.
Trends are our friends when it comes to online internet businesses. You research the economic trends and you will find that there is only one thing most people are focused on in a recession, saving money, saving time, saving the hassle of traditional shopping, everyone is using the internet these days, and smart phones are making internet shopping even more popular. Most have heard of Groupon and LivingSocial, never mind Restaurant.com which all offer discounts to attract new customers, but at what cost to business, that is the question. edit. Free sells in all markets, especially in a recession as severe as this one.
Bottom line, why try to identify the hot button product of the day when you can focus on what everyone is looking for in business, plus what consumers are looking for, how to save money on products and services they are already using.

The real answer to your question is the same as making money from any method, find an emerging trend and get in front of it. Find what's HOT and pick a product or service in that arena, then develop a plan to easily promote it and leverage your efforts by teaching that same plan to others that can help you build a network that pays you all dividends.
