I use ASUS and I'm happy with its service. You can try this model: ASUS S400CA .

It really depends on what you plan to do with it. I currently use a Dell Latitude D430 that I recently purchased on Ebay for $21.50 and love it.

Of course that's not the whole story. I got such a good price because it was sold for Parts Only as a non-working computer by Ebay's rules. It had no hard drive or CD drive included, but after looking at the ad I did notice it had USB ports and would boot up to the BIOS screen, so I grabbed it.

Then I went to Office Depot and bought an 8Gb USB stick for $5 and installed BrowserLinux on it free. When I plugged that into my new laptop it took right off and hasn't had a hiccup since. Of course the dedicated purpose of that laptop is so I can derive some benefit from the time I spend sitting in front of the TV at night, by surfing traffic exchanges to show my own website and make money getting referrals to follow me.

I have no use for anything more expensive.

So the real bottom line answer to your question, is you need to be more specific.

One laptop you would like is a laptop out of the Asus A53S series,
I got mine for 800$ and it comes with around (but product specs may have changed) 6gb of ram, a i7 dual quad core 2.0ghz processor, 640gb of hdd hard drive, and a nvidia gt540m 1 gb graphics card.

There is no excuse not to have a laptop computer now because they are so good and so inexpensive. The joy of advancing technology means we get better products and cheaper prices. The laptops that you can buy now are half the price that they used to be years ago and they are much better with far more features. This means that you can do far more with them making them far more versatile.

Actually your analysis is flawed in a sense, technology has almost made the laptop obsolete. My smartphone does as much as the expensive laptops of a few years ago and fits in my shirt pocket.

One of the most frequently asked questions when choosing which new laptop to buy is which processor is the best one to get.

I work on both platforms (pc/mac) and what I prefer to work on and troubleshoot is the macbook pro 15" Retina display.
