Hi
I am a newbie and live in the West of England UK. For years I have been able to track my income/spending so as to 'balance the books' . I can see at a glance whether I am in credit or in debt. No surprises! The system I use is a Moneyminder log onto which are stapled all receipts.
I am in the process of completing a PowerPoint 2010 Presentation to show more clearly what I do and it is easy! This system would suit anyone who has not got a computer.
Regards
Jim

I was somewhat conflicted about whether or not to remove your thread as spam. Giving you the benefit of the doubt I do not think you intentionally posted to solicit for your system. Therefore I edited your posts to remove a couple of sentences that could have been construed as solicitation and merged the remainder, so that your thread could stand and perhaps serve as an OP for a discussion about what you're doing.
Briefly:
you may describe your method,
you may put a link to a website or email address in your profile signature,
but you may not put those in your post body, and,
you may not solicit for a click on them or for a response to them in the post body.

Hi Tim
Thank you for the advice I have no wish to spam or break the rules!
May I ask a general question how do folks keep track of their money income/spending?
I use MSN Money and at one time used Quicken

Most people don't.
If you can simply describe what you do, and how it's done, in the context of a post here in this thread, I think it might prove interesting, and hopefully, instructive to those who don't.

Hi Tim
My Moneyminder system is of a simple nature and very easy to follow. It is something I have being doing for years, and is in my belief original,
which I am happy to share freely.
Why keep a money log?
To keep track of your money in real time
To show others how yu are able to live within your means
No shortfall surprises at the end of each week/month/year.
To be able to forecast money gain or loss at the end of the year and make provision
What you will need
A 'week to view' diary A4 size
A ruler
A stapler
A black biro A collection of large strong rubber bands., say 10
What do next
Keep all receipts from week 22 and staple them together
Keep all the above in a tidy box away for the family dog and small children
If you have difficulty in getting a diary this time of year get a hardcover folder a4 size and I will talk you through what of do next time.
Any questions so far please ask.
Regards
Jim

Hi
Looking again at 'week to view' diaries 2013 there seems to be no problem in obtaining one as Amazon has quite a number available, at just a few dollars.
Purchase only a 2013 A4 size diary and staple in all receipts on the left page of Week 22. Once you have done that we will explain futher the next stage. Really it is easy, cheap, fun, and free.
Regards
Jim
PS sure hope I am not breaking any forum rules!

So far so good, here, but there was a post in another thread that wasn't appropriate and it was removed. Sorry.

Hi Tim
I am pleased on reflection that you deleted my post to Karen out of Seattle, as one has to be objective. Sure hope Karen that you are following this thread and let me know in due course if it was of help?
If you open your week to view Diary/Money Log at week 22 or week 23 you are asked to staple in all receipts for that week at the top left of the page. Thats it for this stage! Easy? All receipts must be stapled in. I find it easy with my man bag to keep a seperate secion for receipts. Do not keep them in a muddle in an old shoe box. Cash self at a bank or a 'hole in the wall' must aslo be kept.
Next time I will show you how to rule your Diary/Money Log and the role that receipts play.
Regards
Jim

Hi
We now assume that you got the items listed above and you are now starting on week 22, 2013 to staple all your receipts on the top left hand page of your Diary/Money Log.
We now come to the simple task of ruling your Money Log. Relax its easy, just six vertical lines.
On the right page moving in the approx an inch from the edge draw a vertical line. Next to it draw another vertical line. Split the width between the last vertical line and the centre of the Log, and your done. Do the same on the left page and your done again. Do please let me know if this is not clear. Your feedback is invaluable.
Yes I know I did promise that I would show you how to enter your spending/receipts, but I would like to leave that to the next time and not give you too much information at one go. I like everything to be easy and bitesize.
I confirm that everything is for your use and control and absolutely free
Regards
Jim

Hi
We now come to entering your spending as shown on your receipts into your Money Log.
Just before we do that lets look at .
Week to View column identification
The columns are labelled left to right thus
On the left page we on the Week to View we have columns A,B,C,D,
On the right page we have columns E,F,G,H
Receipts entering made simple
Receipts amounts are entered into Column D on the left page of the Week to view
Receipts amounts are entered into Column H on the right page of the Week to View.
Sure hope I am not going to fast or too slow
Next time we hope to look at income and how that is entered into the Money Log.
Regards
Jim
