Credit Card "Guaranty" vs. "actual charge&quo  Reply with quote

First time this has happened.

I live in the U.S. I just booked a hotel in Amsterdam for next year. On the hotel's confirmation letter to me, they said that "this was not a payment, just a guarantee, and that I pay at time of arrival." [BTW, this is a 4-star hotel.]

As I checked my B of A Visa online today, I note there is a "pending" charge of what it seems 1 night's stay at this hotel. Other hotels in the past that required a credit card guarantee have NEVER charged me before arrival.

What does this mean? I know in past experience, that "pending" turns into an actual charge.

Wassup with this?

The hotel is supposedly one of the most reputable ones.

THANK YOU.
