Work from home as a developer  Reply with quote

I'm a programmer and I want to earn from home by offering my services to those looking for mobile app developers. Is anyone here doing this now? Can you share where and how you got clients? And what program/platform do they usually ask you to use to create their apps? Thanks!

I have some friends who are developers and they found some pretty good gigs on sites like Odesk.

See Proof. You can make free money online.

Freelancer.com, but you're up against folks from India, etc., where the median annual income is $1,500 per year. They don't always do good work, though, so you're up against low-paid, non-motivated competition.

Once you get some credibility, you can charge more, but going in, it's hard to get any good money gigs, because you'll be underbid.

Yup, I've been applied to a couple of jobs on Odesk already, and usually, the clients I've tried require knowledge and/or experience in Xamarin, Titanium, and Xojo platforms. Haven't landed one so far.

You're so right!!! In all of the jobs I've applied to, I'm up against people from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan and their bids are ridiculously low! I don't know how any client would pick me over them when their rates are like that. I hope they go for quality over quantity.
