Good day,
I need some advice about investing but am not sure where to turn. I am a US expat with offshore savings and looking for some place to grow this money. A local adviser wants 3% upfront plus 1.4% annual for his assistance, but that seems somewhat steep given that most actively managed portfolios rarely exceed market returns.
If I repatriate this cash and put it into some index funds, will I be socked for taxes?

It depends on what country you are moving the money to. Or, you can invest the money in an index fund at its current location - no move, no taxation.
