First let me say that I have a low tolerance for investing, its just not my thing.I thought about a financial adviser in the past, but never follower thru. I an invested in the 401k at work . I get the maximum matching from my company. I am in the plan that invests according to to your age and retirement date. Am I foolish for investing this way, or if its not too late, should I go with and adviser. I plan on retiring in about 10 years.

I would avoid the advisor - instead get The Little Book of Common Sense Investing, it's simplifies things, it doesn't take long to read. The author is the founder of Vanguard. One major point that he makes is 'avoid advisors' - and then he explains why - and what to do instead.
How old are you - and will you keep investing after you retire?
Most of the age/retirement plans are very good.
