Need an advice on choosing the best marketing techique |
|

Hello forum!
I need an advice from those of you who are involved in selling products and services online
This may be rather complicated, so first I'll tell you a little about us.
We have an established offline business in little kids (1.5-6 years old) intellectual education, based on a unique system developed by the author of the method, with over 30 books (printed) published and over 12 years of experience in teaching kids at our centers in Europe.
Untill now we only had a regular website (from 2001) telling about us and our positive experience, but we've never promoted it and we rarely add content to it. We've been planning to sell our products online since then and now we've finally decided to start it. There is a high demand for our method, so I'm sure it will sell good. In fact, as you know the two best selling products are farmacy products and kids educational products..
We are planning to sell little eBooks and programs (intellectual games and trainings for kids). They are of excellent quality and it cost us around $100-$200 to produce one such book. We are going to sell it for $5-$10. There will be 20-50 of them.
Now, finally, when you have all the details, the big question is how would you recommend me to promote and sell our products?
I can think of few ways to do so:
1.Built a site, devoted purely to our products and advertise it, but then how should we advertise it? Are PPC search engines good for it? Or should we buy links and ads on other similar sites with high traffic, submit to directories free and paid, including yahoo. Anything else? Is it possible to get top positions at google with these means?
2. Sell our products through ebay or other online stores, invest in advertising and build a site about our company. The question is, of course, will it produce more profits?
3. Build and informative portal about the theme, with directories, forums and so on - to concentrate on providing people with information on this subject and also promote the product, maybe even add adsense or other sources of income. It will demand much more work and higher investment, but will drive more traffic.
I prefer the first way, but I'm not sure of how to promote the site then. So what do you suggest, and also what is your opinion about our plan? Do you believe it can be a success?
Another question is how to recieve payments and make the whole system work automatically ( with paypal or credit card), which scripts are safe and can be intagrated into the site?
I have some experience in programming and webdesign, but I'm a complete newbie in online commerce, so any help or advice is highly appreciated.
thanks for help, Michael

Awesome list LuisG01!!!
SEO would be my first choice as organic search engine traffic is often pretty high quality.
One part of SEO is creating quality backlinks and you can create backlinks on Social media sites that allow it. So you'd essentially be killing two birds with one stone.
See Proof. You can make free money online.

Well I suggest you educate yourself in marketing first.
One of the best training i recommend is the
"Greatest Marketing Seminar in the World" by Peak Potentials, Harv Eker.
One of the best marketing strategy that you should employ is the use
of affiliates to promote your products.
Of course you have to build your own websites and have your own bookstore.

I would also suggest some offline marketing as in sponsoring local school functions. This will not only get your name out directly to the people you are trying to market to, but it may even get schools interested in what you are offering, in which case would be extremely beneficial to you.

Aside from print and other forms of media you can try SEO, PPC and other internet-based techniques. Although the results may not come overnight but with the right optimization you'll enjoy the benefits and hence make your business sucessful.

PPC will be the fastest and be very targeted. Be careful though because if you don't know what your are doing you can lose your shirt.
SEO takes time but can bring in traffic for a long time after you do some initial work.
Re the money side, if you have 20-50 products you can use a service like e-junkie. They will handle all the download stuff and the customers pay directly into your paypal account.
It's a good service.

To do what you are trying to do well, is a complex task. Sure you can say, SEO, PPC, Facebook, etc... but actual execution will be problematic.
I'd like you to take a look at this guy, Ryan Deiss, and his site http://digitalmarketer.com/
He's one of the best in the biz, and if you explore his site, you'll get some ideas for how you might proceed. He's also very reputable and a stand-up guy, so no worries with him.
One issue that I have with your strategy right off the bat is that you need some higher priced products. If you have a bunch of $20 ebooks, can you create a $100 video series? Can you create something for $497? There will be plenty of people willing to spend more, and if all you have are $20 ebooks, you're leaving money on the table.
This philosophy is discussed by Brendon Bouchard at http://www.expertsacademy.com/ Again, a top-shelf guy, with great information.
(I'm not affiliated with either site, and receive no compensation. I just like what they have to offer.)
There are several others whose material I could recommend, but these two might be good for you.
The last one i'll recommend is Jimmy D Brown. Again, first class guy all round...
He has many products for training, but I ran across this page with several of his smaller training products now for free.
http://www.free-ebooks.net/author/jimmy-d-brown
I'm sure if you get some of those, they will point you to his other material.
The one that I think you might benefit the most from is the ebook on Small Reports... That sounds like what you're doing.
If you want any more thoughts or advice, PM me, and I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.
John

I think a good thing you can do is to build a website, then create a link wheel. Use other online platforms to promote your business and then link with related websites

There are a lot of good ideas here already, but if you want to do some selling you will need to spend money to update the site, do SEO, do marketing, and built a safe and secure store. There is no way to get around that and it will cost some money.
I am not a web designer or SEO professional, but one thing captured my attention. You have a site that has been in the internet since 2001 that has very little content, why would you want to build a new one?
