Roth TSP???  Reply with quote

Now that the Roth 401(k) is about to make its debut, has anyone heard whether we may be offered a Roth TSP? With budget deficits running as high as they are, I think I would feel better paying my taxes today and not worrying how high they may go later.

Is anyone else interested in a possible Roth TSP?

Pre or Post tax retirement contributions  Reply with quote

While there will always be ongoing discussion regarding pre or post tax adavantages, no one can tell what the future will be, so therefore, no one can really know what will be the most advantages tax strategy for Roth vs 401-k. Even some discussion now wether ROTH should really maintain no future taxes on money and earnings at the time of withdrawel.

What I can lock in currently is tax deferred and unicumbered growth. I am more comfortable growing my funds as hard as I can now, and figuring out how best to beat the tax man at retirement. Maybe the worst I can do is to accumulate hords of cash, and then have to pay taxes on that. At least I will have the hords of cash to contemplate.

If I tax my money now, I have less to work with, and therefore, less leverage.

Just one perspective.
