Fighting your credit report  Reply with quote

just got turned down for a loan, they told me I had two collections on my credit report, and I knew that was wrong because I've only taken out one loan before, and I always paid on time, so I got a copy of my report and there was two on there, but they were not from me, so Im guessing someone get enough information about me to get some money in my name, is this going to be hard to fight, and does anyone have any tips on fighting it, it was 4 years ago when they got the money in my name, right after I got out of high school.
thanks

Wow, that sounds like a pain. Make sure that you get the errors corrected at all three credit bureaus, and use certified mail to contact them if you can't get anywhere via the phone. Here's a good article you might want to checkout...

and here I am a couple weeks later, I called the number and told them to remove it, they said they couldn't remove it unless the medical place calls and tells them too, and that even if the place calls to tell them that it was a mistake all they can do is show that I don't owe it anymore but it will probably still be on my record causing my credit to still be bad, so I called the medical place back and told them, and they said they would have to check some old paper work and to call back tomorrow, so when tomorrow came I called back and they said to call back in a week, finally I was able to get an answer out of them a week later and they told me that I was right and they had no record of me being there and that they would call to tell the collection agency, I still have the number for the collection agency so I'm going to give them about 4 more days and then call to make sure it was taken care of and to see if its going to dispear or if its just going to show that it has been paid, if it did dispear then yay me, but if not it looks like I'm going to have to find a way to get it off, any tips.
thanks

Contact the credit bureaus and dispute the items as not yours. Legally they have thirty days to respond. If they send you a stall letter keep on them like they owe you money.
