Hey everyone, I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of website you guys think is the best site to make for traffic. Now I know everyone is thinking it depends on what you want to do or sell and all, but just for one time lets set all that aside and just give the type of site that A. doesnt sell anything B. Is only there to get traffic for profit off of adsense or the new yahoo beta. So all we are looking for is a type of site to drive mass traffic to the site. I think we could get some interesting view points on this an get the creative juices flowing! Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Well, i would recommend to make it on video-games, or sports:
Sports: its a topic everyone can like, i mean, cmn, everyone likes some sort of sport.
Video-games: most kids who are into the internet, are cause of video games.
A friend did a small webpage about the game World of Warcraft, he s been a month, and he has some decent traffic. Yet he is using a free host, and he hasnt made much publicity, so the site gets mostly visists from friends, or people he knows in game. But making a quick view on his forum, as the time passed, more people came to his site.
Anyways, u have to make something u really know about, cause u need to keep it authenthic, updated and interested.

Here's the problem with a video game or anything similar site. If you plan on making your money with adsense, the rates are very low. There are many things that have higher rates per click. Like an investing site for one. The higher the rates, the less traffic you need to make money. So when you do get a lot of traffic, you will make a lot of money, not just some money.

There are other ways to make money online besides AdSense. Look for online merchants that have affiliate programs and think of a way you can work their products into a website. If you refer visitors to their site and they make a sale, you get a commission.
Also, keep in mind supply/demand. Just because you build a website doesn't mean people will find it. A Google search on 'video games' finds 335,000,000 results. What can your site offer that the other 334,999,999 don't already have? You have to find a niche with a unique angle.

I don't know about using a website to make money directly, but if you want traffic that is actually interested in what you promote, try giving them a free service. I took a free script for a TopSites website and converted it over to an addboard. It's still pretty new but it is getting quite a bit of traffic and those that use it are doing most of the promoting for me free.
If anyone has an interest in copying my idea, let me know and I will give you a hand.
Here's the site: http://GrabYourAd.com and it had over 2,000 unique visitors in December which was my first month.

make a site which, allows adsense and other advertisments, sells products..but not the main thing and is a free site to play fun flash games.

Hi Everyone,
My opinion is any websites that has interesting streaming video or are interactive will be website that many people likes to visit.
Those adults websites making lots of money, because they have streaming video or cam that make it live ... Yes! I really means live video ...
Games are good. They have their market. Anyone thought of online c*sino or sports betting websites. They certainly makes money too.
Online educational website should also be the future trend to web for profit.
Example schools putting up streaming video of different classes or lectures with easy to download course materials , etc . Think about it !
If you have a normal online product, no problem! Just expose your website for more traffics to your website and you may be able to make more money. Come out with a affliate system so that customers who feel like referring your products could also make some money. That could be a way to attract more traffic. You might like to join clickbank or commission junction for that.

Wow! That's a loaded question, and I'll attempt an answer.
In brief, ANY topic can be great for traffic. It all depends on how well you market it. For example, there are millions of dog owners so you could have a niche site that's chock full of doggy related keywords--and real content--that MIGHT draw many visitors--OVER TIME. Oh, be sure to keep your day job
