The Kindness of Strangers  Reply with quote

Hello,

There are a lot of disabilities that people face; and coping requires skills in stress management, thought control and ability to find meaning. The person must accept limitations and at the same time continue with activities that are productive and that they enjoy.

A lot of us have had our lives turned upside down, with having to quite our jobs, some have lost friends..and family. Doing everyday things like brushing our teeth, cleaning, laundry, etc. are a major struggle.

I have no family and have lost so many friends since becoming disabled with Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis (some information about them is below) several years ago. I wonder, what would happen if the shoe were on the other foot. I was raised to think that being a friend is important and it takes being supportive, caring, empathetic and kind. Well that view must be from the old school. Those I have supported emotionally/financially, those I have given things to because they were without, those I have visited when they needed me have disappeared.

I am now to the point where I have to rely on the Kindness of Strangers, please visit my website at www.gratefuldonations.bravehost.com for further information.

Thank you for your time.

Terri

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and multiple tender points. "Tender points" refers to tenderness that occurs in precise, localized areas, particularly in the neck, spine, shoulders, and hips. People with this syndrome may also experience sleep disturbances, morning stiffness, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and other symptoms.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is probably the autoimmune disease with which most people are familiar. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis have pain with motion, swelling, and often redness and warmth of involved joints. Symptoms result from the immune system's attack on the lining of the joint, resulting in inflammation there or possibly in other internal organs. This inflammation of the joint separates rheumatoid arthritis from another common type of arthritis, osteoarthritis (OA). Generally patients with osteoarthritis do not have signs of inflammation of the joint but simply have pain as discussed below.
