Dime Pixels  Reply with quote

Ever heard of pixel advertising? It's where you pay a company a certain amount of money for a 10x10 pixel box on their webpage. Your logo and a direct link to your website is inserted onto the box. Sounds crazy doesn't it? Well it did to me too...that is until I heard of someone named Alex Tew. Alex Tew is the 21 year old brittish kid who came up with the idea. Believe it or not, Alex Tew has raised 1,000,000.00 with his pixel advertising website, one of the most popular websites in internet history. Don't believe me? Check out his site http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/ Cool Now I offer you the exact same package, the next piece of internet history. Alex Tew's website is almost complete, but so many companies didn't get a chance to advertise. At a dollar a pixel, I don't blame them. Our company, Dime Pixels, will offer you the exact same product but at a cheap price. How does 50% sound? 40? 30? 20? Yes 20%, that sounds about right. 20 cents a pixel, 1/5 the price of Alex Tew's gem. You know what? The heck with it, lets make it 1/10 the price of this jewel. Only 10 cents a pixel, now everyone can afford it. Now you can finally get the pixel advertisement you've always wanted, and the ability to keep your wallet fat. The only thing that needs to be done now, is you to take advantage of this great deal. The only thing you have to lose, is the traffic your website has been producing. So maximize your traffic, overtime recieve 1,000's of unique hits day, keep your money, and own a piece of internet history..try out site.

I'm giving credit to him for coming up with the idea..yet I am making it a more affordable opportunity for advertising on the site. You'd be surprised how many pixel advertising websites just basically copy and pasted his website. Sooner or later, their websites will go down due to copyright.

Anyways, I have decided to give away 10 free boxes on the website. Limit one per person, its going on a first come first serve priority. In order to get a free box, email me with your link and logo, and (if you want) an idea of where you would like it on the grid.

The british guy wrote a charming backstory and it really gave a personal feel to the site.

Also his ad space all fit on the screen - no scrolling. You wouldn't charge the same for people who buy space that requires scrolliong to be visible? Would you?

Also it was a timing thing - conditions were right for a flash idea like that. I seriously doubt it's a sustainable marketing model. Is there a sustained demand for this sort of advertising? Note I said sustained, not current.

Also, it's more of an impulse proposition, not something people would comparison shop for. So competing on price, while a decent guess, it just doesn't seem like a ringer to me.

PLEASE prove me wrong. I hope I'm wrong and that you make lots of money. I sincerely wish you the best.

Actually, his ad space did require scrolling. It is not possible to have 1,000,000 pixels on a screen at one time without having to scroll, but even so i'm charging a tenth the price. Yes, I know that my website doesn't have that same background and feel, but i'm just trying to get this website off the ground. As for not believing its a sustainable marketing model, we cannot say. This is a revolutionary way of advertising, and its just now taking its baby steps. As this idea of pixel advertising becomes more widespread, I believe demand will slowly start to rise. Nothings for certain right now... we cannot say whether pixel advertising will become the next best thing since sliced bread, or if it will slowly die down again. As for the current situation, I can safely say that this idea is certainly drawing attention. As for comparison shopping, I don't believe people will be "shopping" for pixel advertising. I do think, however, that as the website grows in popularity, that more and more businesses will begin to consider putting up an ad. See, this is more of a popularity contest, as opposed to a quality contest. Price isn't really an issue here, but as it becomes cheaper, more people will begin to figure, what the heck, i've got nothing to lose. I appreciate being given the opportunity to answer your questions, and i'm sorry if I didn't completely answer them for you.
