Do closed accounts with good history affect credit score?  Reply with quote

Hi, I've got 15 or so closed credit cards in my file. None of them ever had a late payment. Do the closed accounts hurt me at all? Not that I can do anything about it, but I want to know.

Does it hurt (much) to open up accounts for special deals - discounts, 0% financing, etc. and then close them? I maintain a few (3) that have been open for 10+ years, to try to keep the length of credit history good.

Thanks

Average age of the accounts matters.

Who closed them (you or the lender) also matters.
