Is email marketing dead.... |

What do all of you think. Almost all auto responder messages go Into the bulk folder these days. I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion was on this topic.

Yes, and kill it quickly. Unwanted email, that is.
Email marketing only works if you can get people to sign up willingly. A newsletter, a series of lessons on some financial topic or some such thing, or similar freebies will often attract sign-ups. Use a mailing list program that requires a double confirmation, where the program sends back an email to the person who signed up, and they click on a link in the email to confirm that they did sign up. Make sure you state on the website that they must open this email to confirm their registration, and if they don't receive it, they aren't signed up, and to try again with a different email address (or change their settings to receive email from your address).
Then be sure you never, never, never, never, NEVER sell, give away, or abuse their email addresses. I keep a "throwaway" Yahoo email account when I'm investigating such programs, because despite all promises, there's always some jerk who sells my email address and I have to go and get a new one because I'm suddenly inundated with spam.
Don't bother to buy email lists, either, even if the sellers claim these are willing participants. They're probably not, and they'll only hate you and your products if you bug them with unsolicited spam.

Hi,
some people get confused when they hear email marketing. Sending out
emails to the addresses you've purchased from someone is called SPAMMING
and is illegal in the USA and probably in some other countries too.
Anyway, email marketing as a real marketer knows it, is a permission based
marketing. That means that all the people that he sends mail to at some
point "opted in" and allowed him to mail them -- it is now required to put a
"confirmation link" inside your first mail to the person that opted in. This is
all taken care of if you use a system such as Aweber or Getresponse. It is
also something you should get if you intend to do any serious email marke-
ting.
It is OK to send mail to:
* your customers (that hopefully you made to opt-in before you delivered
the product)
* your subscribers (they were hopefully given an option to opt in on your
web site).
When you have people subscribed, you can start building a relationship
with them and up-sell them other of your products (if they are your
customers) or sell them your initial product or an affiliate product if they
are your subscribers.
I myself use Aweber and love it. After you've built a relationship with your
subscribers magical things start to happen. People trust you and when you
send out an email promoting an affiliate product, a nice percentage of
them buy it. You make commissions and they are happy that they got a
good and useful product. The real beauty of it all is that you can do it again
and again and again...
WARNING: Be sure never to abuse the trust you've built with your
subscribers. You must, as I do, regard them as friends and people you
genuinely want to help. They will "reward" you with commissions! Be sure to
always pick top products you use yourself or know reliable people that use
it and love it.
That's it from me. There's a whole science behind email marketing and
there's not enough space here to cover it all. Stick to these basics and you
should do very well.
Have a great day!
