This might just be my ignorance of the rest of the world talking, but I think you can make it financially in any economy. Relevant example: Are there any "rich" people in Poland? If so, then there must be a way to make it in Poland.
I realise that certain political systems make it virtually impossible to succeed financially but I'm an optimist so I believe that anything can be achieved anywhere.
I hope you get the money to take the trip of your dreams. Maybe there's an opportunity around you that could help you achieve this...who knows.

I agree on the first of the quoted Paragraph as well as have a similar kind of thinking as to any body can achieve any thing and anywhere in the world, there should be a strong desire to do it and a determination to do anything it takes to achieve your goal.
